Hello! I’m Jarooca – one of the 41 dogs who came to OHS from a Breeder, and I am now in search of a new loving home. I am very shy at first meeting, but once I get to know you, I am quite the lover. I have not yet been potty trained or leash trained, nor have I ever worn a collar; but with positive reinforcement and good treats, I will hopefully learn the ropes. I am not used to a normal dog life, so I should stay on a harness/leash when outdoors, as I might startle easily in new situations. Ideally, I can go to a calm and quiet home where I can take the time I need to adjust. Young children may overwhelm me, so a home with dog-savvy children will be best for me.

Someday we may all be able to power our homes by harnessing the power from electric eels.    Or maybe not.   But in the meantime, an aquarium in Finland is using electric eels to power their holiday decorations!

He’s GREEN!! His name is Hulk, and unlike his white brothers and sisters Hulk was born green! But vets say the phenomenon, although rare does happen. He should turn white in a couple of weeks.

That’s what researchers in California say.

Children whose mothers used mobile phones while they were in the womb were 30 percent more likely to experience behavioral difficulties by age 7 than children of cellphone-averse moms. If the children started using cellphones themselves at an early age, the odds of behaving badly rose to 50 percent. The University of California study was based on a survey of 28,000 Danish 7-year-olds and their mothers.

Here’s the full article. Scary stuff! I’m not sure I’m entirely buying the science on this one, but it’s enough to make me wonder about what those cell phones are doing to OUR bodies & brains. Yikes!

Jim Sautner of Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada loves his furry friend, Bailey: a 1600 pound buffalo! He lives in the house with the rest of the family and he particularly enjoys going for rides in Jim’s custom convertible. They are regular fixtures at the local pub where both Jim and Bailey enjoy an occasional pint of beer!

Check out this lovely display from a shopping mall in Barcelona, Spain.    If it looks to you like it is a giant pooping elf, you’d be correct!   The elf is called a Caganer and it is a traditional part of Christmas in Spain.  Seriously.

And if for some reason you want to see how the Caganer, or pooping elf was created….watch this!
