Happy Saturday! I just finished an interview with Iglu & Hartley that you will hear bits and peices of on the air this next week. You’ll also be able to hear their full Celebrity Playlist as a podcast here on The Buzz website. They were SO fun…just like their song “In This City”, which is one of my favorite jams right now….total party song….

Speaking of parties….

Ok….I’m getting ready to head over to Trader Joe’s to get all the stuff I need for the Superbowl party tomorrow….but before I do, I wanted to take a quick minute to share some of my favorite snack ideas that you guys called in yesterday. The question was: “What party food do you make that WOWs everyone”. You guys had a LOT of great ideas, but these are some of my faves (and some of the ones I am stealing and taking full credit for, btw…haha!)

*Update* The media player isn’t working at the moment, but I will post that audio as SOON as it is. Please check back. In the meantime, enjoy this track from Iglu & Hartley…It’s not the official video (the record label doesn’t allow embedding…grrrrr), but at least you can hear what I think is the catchiest song on the radio right now.

Seriously, raiding your woman’s closet is one thing….every guy does it from time to time (whether they admit it or not), but UGGS?!?!?! ugh!

You may have heard me talking about this on the air, but in case you missed it…..when I was watching “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”, I had this really wierd sense of deja vu….like I had seen this movie before. Halfway into the flick, it dawned on me….”Forrest Gump!”….Benjamin Button is a total rip off of Forrest Gump! Seems I’m not the only one to notice, as somebody produced this side by side comparison and posted it on funnyordie.com. Check it out!

Ok….despite Bono’s best efforts to make me not like him anymore by being middle-aged crisis man (remember those pics last summer where it appearead he spent his vacation with a teen in a bikini glued to his lap?)…..I can’t help it….I still adore U2….and yes, I was beyond excited to hear the new U2 song this week. It’s called “Get On Your Boots” and while it is VERY different from what I expect a U2 song to sound like….I liked it….I liked the vibe and I liked the beat (yes, it had a beat)….the crunchy guitars were a bonus….still, it’s kind of wierd, so it may take people a minute to warm up to it. The band is going to be streaming it online on Tuesday (1/20), which means it will probably “leak” online this weekend….so have fun googling for it! Haha!

They released the tracklist and album cover today. What do you think of this cover? At first, the = sign reminded me of Chris Martin….he has been putting that on his hand for years to raise awareness for free trade….so at first, I thought “Really U2? You’re really stealing an idea from….Chris Martin?!?!” I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt…for now anyway….the more I look at this cover, the more I like it….you?

Here’s the tracklist:
01. “No Line On The Horizon”
02. “Magnificent”
03. “Moment of Surrender”
04. “Unknown Caller”
05. “I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight”
06. “Get On Your Boots”
07. “Stand Up Comedy”
08. “Fez – Being Born”
09. “White As Snow”
10. “Breathe”
11. “Cedars Of Lebanon”

Courtesy of Weekly World News. I found this in my inbox a few minutes ago and it was too funny to keep to myself! Who knew Obama was related to Bat Boy?!?!?! Right on…

p.s …LOVE their cheesy photoshop job, too!

WASHINGTON, DC – In a stunning response to the passing of Ricardo Montalban, Barack Obama has announced last-minute changes to his upcoming inauguration.

Obama revealed today that he would immediately scrap all Abraham Lincoln references at his inauguration and instead would deliver a new theme of “Fantasy Inauguration”. In adhering to this theme, Obama will be clad for all inaugural festivities in the white-tie popularized by Montalban in his role as Mr. Roarke on the long-running television series. Obama also made the shocking announcement that his half-man half-bat half-brother Obatma would attend the inauguration and serve as his Tattoo.

Obama’s official announcement paid tribute to Montalban and his legacy. The announcement also took many by surprise in Washington.

Obama explained, “Abraham Lincoln was a great man, but Ricardo Montalban and the work he did on Fantasy Island holds far greater personal meaning to me. The opening scenes of the show were even filmed in my childhood state of Hawaii.”

He continued,  “America is a place, like Fantasy Island, where your dreams can come true. Sure, there is a price for making those dreams happen. That price is what we call ‘taxes’. My job as President, much like Mr. Roarke’s job on ‘Fantasy Island’, is making sure you get your money’s worth in making your dreams happen. Think of me as the new Mr. Roarke. The man who is going to make your dreams come true. This is truly America’s Fantasy Inauguration”.

Asked whether there would be a role for Ken Berry in the inauguration, Obama refused to speculate.

Obatma, Obama’s half-brother, was unavailable for comment.

I don’t know why, but I always find rock bands’ dressing room riders funny. You can tell a lot about someone by what their “wish list” is. The Smoking Gun posted this list of what Chris Daughtry requires in his dressing room. I’m assuming he is feeding the whole band, because that is a lot of food. I’ve never seen Lucky Charms on one of these haha! That’s a new one.

I should probably be in bed right now, enjoying my last few hours of vacation, but I can’t sleep! My mind is going over everything I need (and want) to do when I get back into work on Monday…..like start blogging again. ;-)

I hope your Holidays were great and that the snow didn’t screw up too many of your plans (grrrrrr). I guess there is something to be said for staying home and getting reacquainted with your cats, but I did miss some parties that I really wanted to go to. :-(

Next year, I am buying chains in July, while the store still have them!

When I wasn’t napping, reading, watching a marathon of “Rock Of Love Charm School”, or baking (and eating) entirely too many cookies, I surfed music blogs and checked out everyone’s “Best of ‘08″ lists. I don’t know why they insist on calling them “Best Of” lists, because there’s always going to be something on the list that someone doesn’t think is very good, let alone the “Best”…….Soooo…….This is NOT a “Best Of ‘08″ list. It’s more like “CDs I liked enough to buy and play over and over and over again in 2008.” Some of them you have heard on the Buzz, some of them you haven’t. Enjoy…and if there was a CD that you loved, but isn’t on this list, let me know! I’m always looking for new favorites.

In no particular order:

This one is a great soundtrack for any party. Highly danceable and reminds me of some of my fave ’80s music.

Beck never makes the same CD twice….and I love them all. Some have taken a little while to grow on me, but this one was love at first listen.

This is a CD that I got right after I saw Adele in concert. It’s not my “normal” style, musically, but her voice has a power to it that is really rare. She makes you feel these songs. Which is why I love this CD.

I got this one right after I had the guys in for a Celebrity Playlist. I didn’t skip through one of the tracks and when it was done, I listened to the whole thing all over again. Love it!

I may not be the biggest hip hop fan in the world, but I think Kanye West is amazing. He doesn’t rap on this CD. He sings. These songs are dark, melancholy, and haunting….as most good breakup songs should be.

This is the CD you want to listen to if you’re having a bad day. It’s quirky, fun, and always makes me smile when I hear it.

I discovered these guys on a music blog. If you like The Fray and Keane, you’ll like this piano-based pop-rock band from Ohio. BTW….I knew they had to be from the middle of the country, as no one who has ever been poo-bombed by a seagull (like most of us west-coasters) would ever name themselves after those foul (pun! haha!) creatures.

This CD is not deep or serious. It’s just a lot of fun! It was a huge part of my summer soundtrack.

Who knew a CD about death could be so hooky, singable, and the most upbeat CD Coldplay has ever done?

Like Adele, when I first heard Justin Nozuka, I was surprised at how much I loved this music. Not my usual style, but his voice just pulled me in.

Btw…..Playlist.com is somewhat limited in available tracks for some of these CDs, so I’m throwing tracks from all of the CDs below into one playlist…..except for Fall Out Boy. They didn’t have anything from that one. :-(

Admit it, you wish you were P!nk, don’t you? We all do! This CD has a bit more rock edge than her previous CDs, which is fine with me. Perfect fit for her voice and her attitude.

Yes, they are a guilty musical pleasure, but you have to admit that they write songs that get stuck in your head for days. In fact, I’m humming “I Don’t Care” while I type this.

Her voice and songs take you to another time and place. Even though there were several British female artists with a retro sound putting out CDs in 2008, this one stood out, thanks to Duffy’s unique sound.

Huge Death Cab fan here…..’nuff said.

Like the Lenka CD, this is one the CDs I grab when I need to get happy in a hurry. Fun!

I know, I know….a lot of Keane fans did not like this CD. A couple of the tracks have a very different sound from what we expect from Keane (like “Spiralling”, which is in the player). I happen to love “Spiralling because it has such an 80’s feel to it. Another fave is “Love Is The End”, which has that classic Keane sound. People need to give this CD another chance.
